For this special 10 year anniversary session, Mel and I drove out to Roanoke early in the AM to beat the summer heat and catch the cool, crisp sunrise as it filled the quiet streets of downtown. We met with Jason and Vanessa Skidmore at the Green Memorial United Methodist Church, where they tied the knot 10 years ago in July of 2008.
They brought a beautifully framed photo from their wedding, with Vanessa looking stunning in her wedding dress, and Jason in his dress blues!
For this celebratory session, they coordinated perfectly in charcoal with a pop of red. The flowering trees in the area were a stunning, deep crimson and matched the grand doors of the Methodist Church. To celebrate their 10 years of marriage, Vanessa wore her new round diamond ring with a beautiful halo!! It was dazzling against the red blossoms, and shimmered on her finger in the morning sunlight.
We loved working with these two and getting to know them - we stayed and chatted together for a good while after the session, and got to know one another a little better. We learned that Jason is also a photographer, and we especially love his eye and skill for nature photography! You can see some of his work on his instagram. We also learned that Jason served for our country in the military, and we can't thank him enough for his services! We are so thankful for the men and women who have protected so many lives in our military, and we are thankful for their spouses and families and all that they do as well!
Today, Jason and Vanessa work together - just like Mel and me - and we can tell that they not only love each other, but they also really like each other a lot ;)
Over their ten years together as a couple, Jason and Vanessa have shared lots of love, travel, and adventures! We loved hearing their story, and wish them many more happily married years to come~*
